Meet Dr. Barton

Dr. Thea Cooper Barton is a Board Certified gynecologist who has served the women of Montgomery County and the surrounding areas since 2003. Dr. Barton was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania and graduated from Westtown School. From there, she attended the University of Virginia and received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. In 1999, Dr. Barton began her journey in medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. There, she served as Class President for all four years. She received the Alumni Association Award, as well as, the Dean’s Award, upon her graduation in 2003. It is that year, that Dr. Barton began her connection to Montgomery County, as she completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mercy Suburban Hospital in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

For the past 14 years, Dr. Barton has been connecting with women, not only on a professional basis, but also on a personal level, as she is both wife and mother. She can relate to the current demands of a woman and understands the effects that can have on, not only the physical state, but the mental state as well. Dr. Barton focuses on the “whole patient” approach to assess symptoms and to identify the cause of and/or contributing factors regarding a woman’s gynecologic issue(s).



In addition to managing adult female conditions, Dr. Barton also has a passion for treating the adolescent population. She believes that a healthy gynecologic lifestyle can be nurtured during the teenage years and fostered into adulthood. She knows that a teenager may be apprehensive about starting a relationship with a gynecologist so she ensures that they feel comfortable in discussing personal issues with her.

So, when the opportunity of a lifetime arose for Dr. Barton to open her own practice, she knew that East Norriton would be an ideal location for her patients to access. She cherishes the connections she has made over the years, and desires to continue those relationships in her new office. Dr. Barton is committed to providing quality and comprehensive gynecological care to the women of Montgomery County and beyond.
